Thank you vey much for invitating me to your screening. I really enjoyed seeing your work!
Not only was the subject matter interesting and thought provoking, it was also interesting to see Paul's work as an activist and your work as a journalist. Brian is a very interesting character, a great subject for a documentary and a challenge for your audience to understand. On a related subject, have you been to Speaker's Corner in Hyde Park on a Sunday, when lots of people stand on boxes and tell the world what they think about anything they want:

I didn't get the chance to talk to you properly after the Sunday viewing, but amongst other things, the film made me think a lot about what limits society places on free speech and the right to protest. I would say that it is fair that neither of these are absolute rights and there needs to be a balance between the right to protest and the right to be free of disturbance.
If the government appointed you to make the law on this issue, what law would you make?
I would find it tough. I thought your film commented on this difficult balance of rights, by showing Brian very forcefully defending his right to have 3 metres of clear protest on display. He saw his right as over-ruling the woman's right to stand on the pavement and watch the queen go by. He even called on the policeman to interevene, presumably to compel to woman to move on. This really made me think.
Anyway, congratulations on your film. I thought it was a great success and hopefully we can have a long chat about it at some point. I hope it is well received both in the UK and Japan.
Thank you for your email. The film was well crafted and your presentation than anyone else if they attempted to present it in Japanese, you too have sensed the film being out of sunch with voice, I will pass the word around and tell tou of a venue.
the chapter pauses mostly worked for me, though maybe some felt a little long.
the synching was a problem at the venue - your dvd plays fine! if it happens at a screening again, i suggest you stop the dvd, take it out, put it back in, and restart - this normally sorts out this quirk that sometimes happens with dvd projection.
i thought the film was very good, but wondered if it might benefit from just a few cuts to shorten it. one contender for me was the scene of brian talking with the small child near the end (we had seen similar before). also, as i mentioned at the theatre, i thought you needed to subtitle one of brian's pieces again near the end - the traffic noise made it just a little too indistinct.
all that (hopefully constructive) criticism aside, i thought it was a wonderful film and i wish you all the best.
